How do I protect and monitor new users on my devices?

Overview

This article shows you how to protect and monitor new users on your devices with your Qustodio account.

Note: It may take up to 30 minutes for new user accounts on your devices to appear in your Family Portal.

We have prepared examples of three typical configurations:

I want to protect all users of a device with a default Qustodio protection profile.

Setting a default protection profile for all users of a device allows you to:

  • Set up protection for all users of a device at once.
  • Make sure any new users are automatically protected.

To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Go to your Family Portal at the following address: https://family.qustodio.com/

2. Enter your email and password, and click "Log In."

3. In the upper-right corner of the page, click "Settings."

4. Click "Devices."

5. Locate the device you want to configure and click "Edit device options."

6. Locate "All Device Accounts" and then "Click to assign a profile."

7. Select the Qustodio profile you want to use from the dropdown list.

8. Click "Save."

That's it! From now on all of your existing and future device users are protected by the default Qustodio protection profile selected. You may now go to the Rules tab of the selected profile to set up specific protection rules as shown below.

I want to set an individual Qustodio protection profile for each device user.

Setting an individual Qustodio protection profile for each user on a device will allow you to define specific rules for each of these users.

6. Locate the device user you want to protect and then “Click to assign a profile.”

7. Select the Qustodio profile you want to use in the dropdown list.

8. Repeat these steps for each device user you want to protect and then click “Save.”

That's it! You may now go to the Rules tab of the selected profiles to set up specific protection rules as shown below.

I want to set individual profiles to some users while protecting the rest with a default profile.

With Qustodio, you can set an individual Qustodio protection profile for one or more device users and set a unique Qustodio protection profile for all other device users.

This allows you to define specific rules for some users, while making sure that all other existing and future users are also protected.

7. Select the Qustodio profile you want to use as default protection profile from the dropdown list.

8. Locate the device user for whom you want to set an individual protection profile and click on the corresponding line.

9. Click "OK."

10. Select the Qustodio profile you want to use in the dropdown list.

11. Repeat these steps for each device user for whom you want to assign an individual profile and then click "Save."

That's it! You may now go to the Rules tab of the selected profiles to set up specific protection rules as shown below.
