In the space of just a few days, one of China\u2019s most popular social platforms, Xiaohongshu, or \u201cLittle red book\u201d, shot to the top of the US download charts, as <\/span><b>millions of US-based users flocked to the app<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, keen not to miss out on their daily social media fix.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Xiaohongshu (\u5c0f\u7ea2\u4e66), more commonly referred to in English in its shortened form of \u201crednote\u201d, became world-famous overnight. Will its popularity last, especially in the face of an impending TikTok ban stateside? All three of these apps are banned in China, but other domestic apps offering similar experiences, including rednote, Douyin, and Weibo are hugely popular. rednote started out as a shopping guide, where keen consumers could share reviews with the community.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the app\u2019s popularity grew, it morphed into more of a social network, drawing in\u00a0 Chinese-speakers largely sharing <\/span><b>lifestyle videos, cosmetic and fashion content, travel tips, and food and drink recommendations.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> According to research firm Qian Gua, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qian-gua.com\/blog\/detail\/2898.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">rednote had 300 million monthly active users<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2024.
