Los d\u00edas en los que pod\u00edamos detenernos a leer un art\u00edculo interesante y despu\u00e9s continuar con nuestras vidas han quedado atr\u00e1s. En la actualidad, tenemos la opci\u00f3n de enviar la noticia a cientos de personas en WhatsApp, comentarla en YouTube o incluso tuitear nuestra propia versi\u00f3n de la historia y nuestra opini\u00f3n al respecto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sin embargo, esta mejora del acceso a la informaci\u00f3n ha tra\u00eddo consigo una oleada de desinformaci\u00f3n: hablamos de un aut\u00e9ntico tsunami de las denominadas noticias falsas, o <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fake news<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, que con frecuencia se propagan m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido y consiguen una mayor difusi\u00f3n que la verdad. Hoy en d\u00eda hemos llegado a un punto en el que es necesario hacer un verdadero esfuerzo para poder distinguir lo que es real de lo que no en Internet.<\/span><b> \u00bfC\u00f3mo podemos detectar las noticias falsas en la Red y, a nuestra vez, ense\u00f1ar a nuestros hijos a hacer lo mismo?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u00bb4.19.4&#8243; _module_preset=\u00bbdefault\u00bb global_colors_info=\u00bb{}\u00bb]<\/p>\n<h2><b>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 han aumentado las noticias falsas?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=\u00bb4.19.4&#8243; _module_preset=\u00bbdefault\u00bb global_colors_info=\u00bb{}\u00bb]<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El problema de la desinformaci\u00f3n no es nuevo, pero en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os se ha vuelto cada vez m\u00e1s preocupante debido al auge de la tecnolog\u00eda.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A pesar de que<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2021\/01\/12\/more-than-eight-in-ten-americans-get-news-from-digital-devices\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">el 68% de los <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">estadounidenses afirma que utiliza sitios web o aplicaciones de noticias para informarse, un 53% reconoce que suele hacerlo a trav\u00e9s de las redes sociales \u2014una fuente que tradicionalmente no ha estado sujeta a las mismas normas respecto a la publicaci\u00f3n de contenido que la televisi\u00f3n, la radio, la prensa escrita y otros medios cl\u00e1sicos\u2014.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En este tipo de plataformas, las noticias y la informaci\u00f3n suelen apartarse del terreno de los hechos para entrar en el de las opiniones, y ambos terminan confundi\u00e9ndose. Fake news spreads faster and more easily than this virus, and is just as dangerous.<\/a>\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p><p>While the challenge of misinformation is not new, it has been a growing cause for concern, exacerbated by the rise of technology. In recent years organisations like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humanetech.com\/\">The Center for Humane Technology<\/a>, have cast a spotlight on the influence misinformation is having on our politics and society. But with lives now more directly at stake with Covid-19, misinformation about the pandemic has brought the topic of fake news into the spotlight.\u00a0<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ofcom.org.uk\/about-ofcom\/latest\/features-and-news\/news-from-social-media\">Today, in the U.K, 45% of people get their news from social media<\/a>. This is even higher for children. As such, social media platforms which have not been subject to the same content rules as TV, radio, print and other traditional news sources, are facing increasing scrutiny from regulators for their role in the dissemination of content.\u00a0 They have started to take some action.\u00a0 In March, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2020\/03\/16\/facebook-reddit-google-linkedin-microsoft-twitter-and-youtube-issue-joint-statement-on-misinformation\/\">Facebook, Reddit, Google, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Twitter and YouTube issued a joint statement<\/a>, in which they committed to helping people stay connected during the pandemic while also combating rising fraud and misinformation about the virus.\u00a0 The result has been a series of blocks around content, most recently including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/10\/06\/facebook-removes-trump-post-falsely-comparing-coronavirus-and-the-flu.html\">Donald Trump\u2019s false claims about Coronavirus.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Fortunately, understanding when a scientific claim is true is relatively straight-forward. Take for example, debunking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/52168096\">myth that 5G masts cause COVID-19<\/a>. This can be fact checked by independent scientists and quickly shown to be untrue.\u00a0 But news and information can often stray from fact towards opinion. Is the content high quality? <br>\r\n<strong>\u00b7 Are their spelling or grammatical mistakes?<\/strong> <br>\r\n<strong>\u00b7 <\/strong>Is the language unnecessarily sensationalist? <br>\r\n<strong>\u00b7 <\/strong>Can you find the same story on other more trusted sources like your national public news site?
