How do I install Qustodio on an Android device?

Overview

This article tells you how to download and install the Qustodio application on an Android smartphone or tablet that your child will use, when:

  • you don’t have a Qustodio account
  • you already have a Qustodio account ( This also means you will have installed Qustodio on at least one Windows, Mac or Android device: www.qustodio.com/download/ )

Once you install Qustodio on a device, it sends information to the Qustodio Family Portal. You can control your child’s use of the device through the Portal.

Choose one of the following options

I have an account

Download and Install Qustodio

Repeat these steps for each Android device you want your child to use. Downloading and installing Qustodio takes about ten minutes.

1. Open the Google Play App and Search for Qustodio.

2. Tap the Qustodio app.

3. Tap Install.<

4. Review the Permissions, then tap Accept & download.

5. Tap Allow automatic updating.

6. Open the Qustodio app.

7. Tap Activate to activate the device administrator.

8. Tap I have an account.

9. Enter your email address and password.

10. Enter a name for the device.

Tip. Choose a name that obviously and visibly links to this specific device, such as Android HTC if the device is branded HTC.

11. Review the Success! screen and tap Finish.

12. Review the Qustodio control screen for this device.

Options on the main part of the screen are View activity, Configure this device, and Disable protection. The first two options take you to the Qustodio website.

13. Tap Close when done.



 

I am new to Qustodio

1. Open the Google Play Store.

2. Search for Qustodio and tap the Qustodio app.

3. Tap Install.

4. Review the Permissions, then tap Accept & download.

5. Tap Allow automatic updating.

6. Open the Qustodio app.

7. Tap Activate to activate the device administrator.

8. Tap I’m new to Qustodio.

9. Enter your name and email address.

Qustodio will send you an email to activate the account. Protection will not be active on the device until you read and act on the email you receive.

10. Enter your password.

11. Enter a name for the device.

Tip. Choose a name that obviously and visibly links to this specific device, such as Android HTC if the device is branded HTC.

12. Enter your child’s name, year of birth, and gender - Boy or Girl.

13. Tap an avatar for your child.

14. Review the Success! screen and tap Finish.

15. Review the Qustodio control screen for this device.

Options on the main part of the screen are View activity, Configure this device, and Disable protection. The first two options take you to the Qustodio website.

16. Tap Close when done.

Tip. You will need to re-enter your password each time you open or return to the app. This prevents unauthorized parties, such as your child, from changing Qustodio settings or disabling Qustodio on this device.

Congratulations! Your child’s use of this Android device can now be monitored and managed using the Qustodio Family Portal.
