Qustodio sent me an email about unprotected new users on my computer, what should I do?

Overview

If you've received an email from Qustodio informing you that a new user account has been created on one of your devices, and that Qustodio is not supervising or protecting this user account, and you're not sure why or what it means, please read the information provided below carefully.

What is this new user account and how did it appear?

The most probable in this case, is that your child created a new user account on the computer, and that she/he is using this new account to circumvent Qustodio's monitoring and protection.

What can I do to protect the new user account?

To correct this problem, go to your Family Portal and then to Settings > Devices > Edit device options. There you will see the list of user accounts on your device and the associated Qustodio profile. If you find that a user account is not protected, select a Qustodio profile in the dropdown next to the user account name to make sure to protect and monitor the new user account.

What can I do to make sure that all users on my devices are monitored and protected, no matter what?

To make sure that Qustodio protects all users on your devices, even the ones that don't exist yet, you would have to set up default protection profile for all users of theses devices.

To do so, follow these steps:
1. Go to your Family Portal and log in.
2. Find a dropdown on the top right of the page, choose Settings > Devices > Edit device options

3. Locate "All Device Accounts" and then "Click to assign a profile."

4. Select the Qustodio profile you want to use from the dropdown list.

5. Click "Save."

That's it! From now on all of your existing and future device users are protected by the default Qustodio protection profile selected. You may now go to the Rules tab of the selected profile to set up specific protection rules.

If you prefer to set an individual Qustodio protection profile for each device user, or to set individual profiles to some users while protecting the rest with a default profile, please refer to this article to find out how to do so.
