Whether you want your child to keep learning, listening to music, or enjoying creative apps without interruption, the always allowed feature lets you choose which apps stay accessible even during downtime. We know how disappointing it can be when your child is in the middle of listening to music, exploring an educational app, or using a health tool, and suddenly screen time ends. The apps lock, and the productive moment is cut short.
Always allowed is here to help. This feature lets children keep using the apps they love and need, even during downtime, whether it’s a daily time limit, a routine, or a family pause. It helps make screen time smoother, more enjoyable, and stress free for the whole family.
How to set up always allowed
Getting started on Android is simple. With the latest update, you can make sure your kids’ key apps are always accessible:
Open the rules section
Head to your Parent Dashboard and go to your child’s Rules. This is where you control app access and screen time limits.
Go to games & apps
Tap on games & apps to see all the apps installed on your child’s device.
Choose the apps to allow
Pick the app you want your child to keep using, such as Spotify for music or an educational app for homework and toggle on ‘always allowed’. The app will now stay accessible even during downtime events like routines or family pause.
Use the filter for easy management
If you have multiple always allowed apps, filtering makes it easy. Open the filter menu in games & apps and select always allowed. You will see only the apps you have approved.

Why always allowed helps
This feature offers more than convenience, it ensures that your children can continue to access apps that are essential to their learning and development without the disruption caused by unexpected restrictions. At the same time, parents retain full authority over which apps remain available for their children. The filtering tool makes it easy to update the approved app list so it can keep up with your family’s changing needs.
Make downtime work for your family
With always allowed, downtime does not have to be a struggle. Children can continue using the apps that matter most to them, whether they are learning, listening to music, or exploring creative tools, while parents retain full control over which apps remain accessible. It is a simple way to give your family flexibility, structure, and a little peace.
