This week the Qustodio team is back at CES Las Vegas, the most important annual consumer electronics show in the world. Last year, we announced a partnership with Qualcomm to bring Qustodio’s unique technology to their next generation of consumer routers known as “smart gateways.” This year, the new product is complete, and it’s groundbreaking.
The name of this new product is FamilyGuard. FamilyGuard can automatically detect any device connected to your home router and help you manage that device. This means that without installing any software, you can apply Qustodio’s quality Web Filtering, App Controls and Time Limits across your Xbox, Windows PC, PlayStation, Mac, SmartTV, iPad and all of the other Internet-enabled devices in the home. Basically, if the device connects to the Internet, it can be managed by FamilyGuard. What’s more, you can opt to set different rules for different devices so that everyone in the family can finally have a managed and appropriate connected experience. It’s a great sister product to Qustodio 2015 and does things with device management that our competitors haven’t even touched yet.
How will it work? At CES 2015, Qualcomm will demo the finished product to Internet carriers (ISPs) and router manufacturers (OEMs). In the coming months, Qualcomm will be working with Qustodio and key ISPs and OEMs to deliver the product to market so that when you connect to the Internet, you can do it from a smart gateway that has FamilyGuard. For the first time, with FamilyGuard, families can manage all devices directly from the router without any additional software or complicated configuration.
Here’s what Qustodio’s chief executive officer, Eduardo Cruz, said about FamilyGuard: “Last year Qualcomm said that Qustodio reinvents parental control. This year we’ve got the product to prove it. This is a before and after for consumers and makes it easy for families to manage all connected devices from a simple dashboard.”
